Boy:*reading from phone* I heard 1 in 4 people are gay. That means at least one person in my friendship group is gay. I hope it’s Michael, because Michael’s cute.

What direction do you go after starting your own theatre company, having your production go viral on the internet, selling out a cross-country solo tour, and becoming a fan favorite on one of television’s hottest dramedies? If Darren Criss’s 2015 is any indiction, apparently the only direction is up.

At the beginning of the year, Glee, the series that helped launch Criss into perpetual stardom, ended after six years. Criss starred for five seasons as the endlessly charming and good-looking Blaine Anderson.

Glee‘s final season also earned Criss an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for This Time, the song Criss wrote for Glee‘s breakout star Lea Michele to perform in the show’s series finale.

Once Glee bid adieu, Criss fans, however, didn’t have long to wait for the actor to move onto his next gig. In February, Darren announced that he would headline the Tony-award winning musical, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, on Broadway.

The actor joined the ranks of previous Hedwig stars – Neil Patrick Harris, John Cameron Mitchell, Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall – and he undoubtedly held his own. The role was something new for fans of Criss, seeing the actor perform in full makeup as the transgender glam rocker from East Berlin, but it was nothing short of incredible to be reminded why Criss is a multidimensional talent.
